Independent commentary
Unless a post states otherwise, the views expressed in The Third Space are Nicole “Nikki” Dube’s own evolving views. They do not necessarily represent the University of Southern Maine, present or former employers, clients, professional associations, linked authors, or other institutions and collaborators.
Not clinical or professional advice
Journal entries, newsletters, reading notes, and conversations are offered for education, reflection, criticism, and general information. They are not psychotherapy, medical advice, legal advice, diagnosis, treatment, or crisis support. Reading, subscribing, responding, or otherwise engaging with this material does not create a therapist-client relationship or another professional relationship.
Clinical separation and confidentiality
The public journal and newsletter are separate from the psychotherapy practice. Readers should not submit clinical details, emergencies, or confidential health information through journal engagement channels. Client information will not be used in public writing or marketing without the permissions and safeguards required by law and professional ethics. Composite or altered illustrations, if ever used, will be identified as such.
Recommendations, endorsements, and material relationships
A recommendation reflects an honest opinion at the time it is published. Linking to a book, article, organization, Substack, product, or creator does not imply agreement with every position they hold. If BBLS receives money, free access, gifts, affiliate revenue, or another material benefit connected to a recommendation, that relationship will be disclosed clearly beside the affected recommendation—not only on this policy page.
Quotation, attribution, and copyright
Original BBLS writing is protected by copyright. Other creators retain rights in their work. Short quotations and limited excerpts may be used for criticism, comment, scholarship, teaching, or reporting with attribution and links where available. Fair use is context-specific; this site does not claim that every use automatically qualifies. Requests concerning attribution, permission, or removal will be reviewed in good faith.
External links
External pages may change after they are linked. BBLS does not control their availability, privacy practices, accuracy, or later content. A link is an invitation to inspect a source, not a warranty.
Responses, endorsements, and publication
Responses are private by default. Submission does not guarantee publication. BBLS may decline, edit, excerpt, or remove material to protect privacy, relevance, and the quality of conversation. No private response will be publicly quoted or attributed without explicit permission. When editing would materially change meaning, approval will be sought before publication.
Editorial correspondence
The Third Space correspondence inbox is for editorial questions, reading recommendations, professional connections, and collaboration proposals. It is not monitored or secured as a clinical communication channel. Please do not use it for therapy inquiries, emergencies, protected health information, or other confidential clinical material; psychotherapy inquiries should be made through the Headway or Psychology Today links on the Psychotherapy page.
Corrections and revision
Thinking changes and errors happen. Substantive factual corrections will be made transparently when practical. Editorial revisions that do not alter the substance of a piece may be made without a formal correction note. Dates and version notes may be added where the history matters.
Newsletter consent
Newsletter enrollment will require a separate affirmative opt-in. Therapy inquiries and client contact information will not be added to a marketing list merely because someone contacted or worked with the clinical practice. Every marketing email will include a functional way to unsubscribe.
